Select your fighter!
Over at the IGN blogs some of the regulars have posted their dream picks for Super Smash Bros. fighters... I like the idea and although I have an IGN blog, I don't use it much, so here's my top 10 (what's yours?)

10. Olimar
To me this is a no-brainer. If Nintendo doesn't include this guy they are missing out on a major opportunity. Yes, Pikmin might be considered a moderate hit compared to Metroid or Zelda, but they are fun games and they come from the creator of Mario.... plus, I can imagine some cool moves with all of Olimar's special attacks being Pikmin-based. In the game he'd probably be the size of Pichu, maybe smaller.

9. Urban Champion
Urban Champion is truly a lost classic. It was the first (and one of few) fighters on the NES and it had some truly revolutionary gameplay that's never been re-used, despite adding to the realism of the fight. See, as you play, your health gradually decreases. When you punch, it decreases faster, and when you get punch it decreases even faster. On top of that, nieghbors will throw potted plants at you, manholes are left open, and whenever the cops drive by you have to act casual and pretend not to be dying. This game demands to be reinvented as a Wii brawler with realistic graphics and a more advanced version of the Wii-boxing engine.
In the meantime however, I'd love to see the Urban Champion included (even in a more cartoony form) as a Smash Brother. Special moves could involve plant-throwing, manhole-cover lifting and calling the cops (causing nearby characters to freeze nervously).

8. Bubbles
The fighter of Clu-Clu Land is one of Nintendo's lost opportunities. Namco made it's name off of Pac-Man, but Nintendo never revisited this Pac-challenger. Bubbles had some fun swing moves and I could see her using ruppies as weapons. It'd make for a nice Kirby/Jigglypuff sized character.

7. King Hippo
Ah... Punch-Out. The best boxing game ever. Little Mac might make for an interesting Smash fighter, but I think everyone agrees that King Hippo is the real star. Sure, Mr. Sandman (or Mike) is nigh unbeatable and Glass Joe is funny, but King Hippo is just visually cool. He needs to be brought back as a fighter.

6. Imajin
It'd be fun to see this guy in Smash Bros. He could pull up vegitables, ride magic carpets, throw masks.... see, he's the star of Super Mario Bros. 2. Don't recognize him? For those who don't know, the American version of SMB2 was just a clone of Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic. He'd be a fun nod at the company's history.

5. Starman
Although Punch-Out gets more attention as the cool original sports game of the NES launch, Pro-Wrestling is a fun classic and had some great character designs. The most interesting, in my mind, was the pink-suited, star-faced Starman, the Mexican wrestler of the international championship. And honestly, that's what Smash Bros. needs, a Mexican.

4. Thomas
This is a pipe dream of mine, but I loved the original Kung Fu. I wish Nintendo would make a new version of the game, but since the original was developed by IREM, so I don't know who owns the copywrite. I'd love to see this master of Kung Fu on Smash Bros.

3. R.O.B.
The Robotic Operating Buddy had to be the worst peripheral idea ever, even if it probably seemed like a good idea at the time. Gyromite's a fun game and I never got a chance to play Stack-Up. This guy's already been included in Mario Kart and as a background element of F-Zero, so why not as a fighter? The hardest tasks would be making him a dynamic character, as the robot has no real joints, and giving him locamotion (somehow I see him with tank treds, but his old stand could be converted into spider-legs of some sort..).

2. Captain N, the Game Master
This guy was my number one pick back when Melee came out, and along with Kid Icarus, the one I most wanted to see included. Pit's already in Brawl, now give Kevin a chance! He's got all kinds of cool powers: zapper gun, fastforward sprint runnning, localized "pause" effect, power jump and others.
Honestly, I'd love to see this guy in his own Kingdom Hearts-style game. The Game Masters could hop from gameworld to gameworld, each time giving the player a chance to try out a different style of play.

1. Mii!!
I honestly expect this guy to be a playable fighter using skills from Wii Play and Wii Sports. Seriously, there is no reason not to allow the player's Mii to be a playable fighter, and that'd be fun to watch!
I had to cut for images... but I'd like to know who others would want in Smash Bros.
